"The semiconductor industry highly values actual performance. Back when JM-APPLIED was a startup, we pieced together experience and integrated resources from overseas to prove our capabilities. We can say that what others were unwilling to do, JM-APPLIED took on and succeeded!" said General Manager Lee Junwei. With an in-depth understanding of the semiconductor industry and special gas equipment, JM-APPLIED, founded in 2012, faced competition from global 500 companies and IPO-listed firms. Starting as a "newborn" company, JM-APPLIED built a platform for semiconductor special gas equipment, initially focusing on serving overseas clients. Whether it was customized solutions or complex processes, we took on all the business and provided comprehensive solutions, realizing a full-service approach from 0 to 1, which laid the foundation for our success.

A large slogan, "There are only imperfect products, not picky customers" is displayed on the factory wall, showcasing JM-APPLIED's craftsmanship and commitment to high standards in product quality, technology, and service.

Starting a business is challenging. From maintenance and repairs to new technological solutions.

Having gone through an engineer’s life of "24-hour on-call, only 2-3 hours of sleep a day," Li Junwei, with his background in the semiconductor industry, has a deep understanding of the industry ecosystem, especially the "mission accomplished" drive of engineers. This empathy became the driving force behind his entrepreneurship. During the 2008 financial crisis, Li felt the insecurity, anxiety, and fear of the future caused by corporate layoffs, which motivated him to create a platform for mutual prosperity between employees and the company. He recruited professional partners from the semiconductor industry, identified market opportunities, and seized technical innovations and demand gaps, leading to the establishment of JM-APPLIED.

"JM-APPLIED initially focused on basic maintenance, requiring 24-hour on-call availability and offering low profit margins. The main goal was to accumulate experience while upgrading technical and service capabilities, gearing up for growth," Li explained. As business expanded, the market began responding to the team’s efforts, particularly in technology. Through strategic collaborations, including with Asian leaders in the market, JM-APPLIED introduced new technologies and solutions, securing contracts like the CPC gas detection system project, Huaxin Special Gases, and Nanya Technology, gradually gaining a foothold in the industry.

However, crises soon followed. In 2015, JM-APPLIED actively provided the best solutions for a tech giant’s project, only to have the order canceled in 2016, which severely impacted operations and team morale. Nonetheless, turning adversity into opportunity, JM-APPLIED took this setback as a chance to reflect and adjust its business strategy. The company shifted to becoming a system integrator, relocated, expanded its capital, and aggressively developed the Chinese market. In 2017, they formed a strategic partnership with Linde, securing major projects such as the Eastern Crystal and Chengdu Panda expansion and Hefei Changxin special gas system engineering, a multi-year, multi-million-dollar contract that revitalized JM-APPLIED and bolstered its international strength. Despite facing another setback in 2018, JM-APPLIED managed to recover, and by 2021, under the name of Goodly, secured the Hefei Jinghe N3 plant engineering project, pushing its revenue beyond 1 billion TWD and reaching a peak in the company’s development.

In response to the global sustainability trend, JM-APPLIED adopts a customer-centric approach, developing raw materials that significantly reduce carbon emissions. This not only serves as a strong support for clients in their carbon reduction efforts but also strengthens the company’s competitive edge within the industry.

Tailored Solutions for Clients, Aligned with the Net-Zero Trend

"JM-APPLIED's advantage lies in understanding the client's usage experience, thinking from their perspective, and finding the best solutions for them," said General Manager Li Junwei. In the semiconductor specialty gas industry, business focus typically falls into two main areas: one, supply units, including equipment and maintenance; and two, solutions for raw materials or by-products. JM-APPLIED, however, has made a distinction between the two. "Although we don’t produce the raw materials ourselves, our team has 20 to 30 years of experience in the industry, which allows us to find the most suitable solutions for our clients. For example, when it comes to a new piece of equipment, how to match it with the client's system and overcome practical operational issues is where our core advantage lies."

In addition to setting up service offices across Taiwan's North, Central, and South Science Parks to provide fast client service, JM-APPLIED offers a range of integrated solutions and value-added services. These include specialty gas supply, equipment installation and maintenance, as well as technical support, training, and consultancy services, all tailored to create the best solutions for clients, establishing a competitive edge in the industry.

In line with the global trend towards net-zero emissions, semiconductor giants are striving for carbon neutrality, and JM-APPLIED has aligned its raw material development with this trend. JM-APPLIED's latest D4 coolant product has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) value of just 102 GWP, compared to the market's mainstream FC3283, which has a GWP of 8000. This means that using D4 will save 80 times the CO2 emissions equivalent compared to the old FC3283, helping companies meet their ESG goals. In the face of international carbon taxes and increasingly stringent material regulations, this product will enhance competitiveness.

Li Junwei emphasized that with the booming semiconductor industry, JM-APPLIED continues to invest in technological innovation and research and development, focusing on advanced, high-performance specialty gas equipment and one-stop services. The company's business footprint is expanding globally, actively seeking new partners. "The semiconductor industry has become a symbol of global competitiveness, and Taiwan's semiconductor industry is a key player in regional strategic thinking. JM-APPLIED focuses on serving the semiconductor industry, contributing its efforts, and hopes to be a strong ally in supporting Taiwan's 'Silicon Shield.'"

Through expanding its global business, JM-APPLIED will continue to enhance its service capabilities and create greater value for clients.
